On a Lighter Note....

This year we have slightly expanded our exploration of the fresh herb growing arena. Gail was looking through a Kohl's flyer and noticed that they had the "Aero-Garden" on sale at a significant mark-down. Since we had looked at them when they first came out and decided that they were over priced, we never bought one. Well, now we have. We are growing basil, mint, oregano, dill, thyme, and chives. All but the chives are now growing.

The basil is taking over............
The Aero-Garden.............................
The Aero-Garden is totally hydroponic. You just plug in the seed pods, fill with water, add the nutrient tablets, and wait for them to grow. There is a small pump to keep the water flowing and grow lights that stay on 16 hours a day. It even lets you know when to add water and nutrients. Virtually automatic.

Outside, I am growing corn and peppers, as well as oregano, basil and parsley.

Check out the corn......................
Herbs in the pots................

Really, we aren't turning into survivalists. We're just trying to grow some of our own veggies and herbs. Next year, I may put in a large vegetable garden.

I still remember the veggie garden we had in Lakeside and the HUGE zucchini.
